B B Paul is presently engaged as Consultant in the office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, New Delhi. He joined service in 1975 and has served in almost all States of India in the areas of textiles and handlooms. He was associated with the development and production of samples for the prestigious Vishwakarma exhibitions, Birds & Animal series and Tantavi collections in the 1980s and 90s. He was involved with the ICCR in establishing a textile museum in Siem Reap, has published more than 25 technical Papers on various issues related to the promotion of handlooms, and is the inventor of four looms aimed at increasing efficiency of production in handooms, while reducing fatigue to the weavers . During his posting in Tripura he was responsible for the introduction of coloured cotton here. He received the National Award in 1991, and has been instrumental in formulating the India Handloom Brand Scheme recently.
